Frank Lampard to Chelsea: What must happen next for deal to be done.
Derby County have granted permission for talks to take place
Derby County confirmed this afternoon that they have given the Blues permission to speak to their manager over the vacant role at Stamford Bridge.
It has been more than a week since it was confirmed that Maurizio Sarri was leaving west London to join Juventus, however the Blues have, officially anyway, been slower in getting any deal over the line.
While it has been a heavy rumour for several week, Blues fans can finally get excited about what is to come ahead of the 2019/20 campaign.
But what has to be finalised for the deal to be made official?
The first step is personal terms to be agreed between the Blues legend and the club, however that is hardly going to be a sticking point.
The club's record goalscorer is keen for the move and, even though there was nothing official, the Blues would have been confident that everything will be agreed.

The next issue is the backroom staff and who Lampard will have as part of his team in the dugout come the new season.
Lampard is expected to want to bring Jody Morris with him as his assistant, with Chris Jones to return to Chelsea as a first team coach as well.
There will have to be a decision made on Derby's goalkeeping coach, Shay Given, while the Blues might want to go for their own in Christophe Lollichon.
The Blues got more than £5million from Juventus for Sarri breaking his contract in west London, while the Midlands club are expecting £4million.
That shouldn't be too much of an issue for the Blues and no doubt the Sarri money will be recycled into that.
Derby will be looking for their own replacement with it very likely now that the deal will be wrapped up.
The Blues are aiming to get the deal over the line within the next 24 hours, with the confirmation to come either today or tomorrow (Wednesday).
